I'm linking up with Leigh Kramer for the first time this month!

April has been one hell of a month. Not the happiest of months but memorable still. I feel like I'm finally beginning to understand things about myself I had previously avoided/ignored. I'm not quite sure if I shared it here but I have been looking for a psychologist for awhile now and was super glad to not only find one but to also finally find one I can actually afford! Haven't booked my first appointment yet but I'm crazy happy/nervous/weirded out inside by the whole thing.

Here's what April has looked like over here:

Read and reading:
I began this month with the hope that I would be able to finish at least 3 books but that never happened. I did, however, successfully complete The Rosie Project (humour) and find myself shuttling between The Jewish Gospels and The Jesus I Never Knew (both theological books). I also read Americanah (fiction) awhile ago and thoroughly enjoyed Adichie's writing

Movies:
I saw Noah and Captain America this month. I had heard and seen all sorts of feminist rant reviews of Noah. I should just say now that if you haven't seen it and are expecting to see an accurate storytelling in keeping with the biblical Noah, prepare to be rudely awoken. I don't think I have regretted wasting two hours of my life any more than when I watched Noah. On the bright side, I met Chimamanda Adichie (author of Americanah) touching up her makeup in the bathroom. Another bright side: I saw Noah with one of the most thoughtful guys I've met lately. So if you insist on seeing it, at least see it with someone who makes you happy. Captain America was great. Action isn't my cup of tea (seeing as I prefer coffee) but it was a kickass movie.

Music:
I've been listening to Kari Jobe's Majestic album and Bethel Music's You Make Me Brave. Both albums are so so good. My favourite tracks have to be Forever (from Majestic) and You Make Me Brave (by Amanda Cook, Bethel Music). You can listen to my music favourites here. In other music news, I cannot wait for Brooke Fraser's new album to get here already!

Things I love:

  • Signing up at my school gym. I work out 2 hours four days a week and I love it
  • Playing with some new makeup stuff (and finally coming to terms with the fact that I will never be able to fix my own false lashes
  • Finally seeing Frozen (I'm still wondering what all the hype was about. Maybe I'm a little jaded)
  • Hearing my professor say I'm great at Counterpoint and Fugal techniques!
  • Getting better at singing classical soprano

Favorite Instagram:

On my way to class, it was a gorgeous day and I was on a positivity high. You can follow me on Instagram here

On the blog:

I am currently considering a blog rebrand! I loved reading some of the responses to the survey I sent out last week (I'd LOVE for you to fill it here if you haven't already. Thank you!) As requested, I will blog more about my natural hair journey, books, fashion, faith, relationships. I can't wait to share the survey results with you all next week.

So what have you been into this month? Share with me in the comments below or join this fun link up!

  1. Welcome to What I'm Into! It's a lot of fun. Is that Philip Yancey's The Jesus I Never Knew that you're currently reading? One of my favourites.

  2. Hiya Ibukun! I found your lovely blog through Leigh Kramer's What I'm Into link-ups, and I'm so glad that I did! I saw Captain America this month, too. It was loud, but pretty good for an action movie. :) Americanah has been on my radar for a while, so I should get to reading it! How exciting that you were able to meet the author! Wishing you a wonderful month of May!

  3. Aw man! I'm bummed to hear that about Noah. I can't remember where, but I thought I saw a review on a Christian site saying that it was actually good, so I had my hopes up. At least now I've been warned so I can save my money!

  6. Glad to hear you found a promising psychologist- hope the first appointment goes well! Counseling is one of the best gifts we can give ourselves, no matter what we've gone through or are currently processing. Glad you enjoyed Americanah. I'm still thinking about it months later. So cool that you met Adichie!

Thanks for linking up with What I'm Into!

  7. Frozen is exciting if you are kid. As an adult, it was just average as princesses go.
